If DirectX10 was available in Windows XP, I "never" turned up to Vista... If there are 6 main reasons to update to Vista, I can give 6000 to stay with XP...

Are you kidding? I see NO real improvements in this OS that can give me some reasons for an upgrade.

1. Vista is very secure? Where? Anyway, it is not much better than XP. User Account Control and all other spyware from microsoft it is better to switch off immediately.

If you want security, take XP, a good firewall, anti-virus, anti-spy and anti-root tools. There are many good freeware tools like Comodo Firewall and AVG anti-virus tools.

Here the last tests of Firewalls -

2. Improved file management? It is not enough. Specialized programs can do this better.

3. Stability? There are many problems with new drivers. Because of new Microsoft's driver licensing policy for some hardware there are no drivers for Vista.

4. Aero. You can have it in XP also. Take an extender.

5. Gaming. OK DirectX 10 could be probably a reason, but look at the performance. Vista is MUCH MORE SLOWER than XP. See comparison tests on Tom's Hardware.

If you want top performance, Vista is not for you!

6. Media Center. I am wondering that somebody really uses that crap. If you are making HTPC, have a look on -

Video Player + Decoders
media player classic + ffdshow + matroska splitter (http://www.x264.nl/)

Audio Player + Tools
foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/)

Any other reasons?
