Merijn has sold HijackThis to TrendMicro. The transaction happened 3-4 months ago, but you can now find a beta of the Trend version available here.
Three major changes that I notice, and don’t care for:
1) HijackThis ™ — it’s now trademarked, potentially restricting its use. How will it affect sites offering free help via HijackThis?
2 ) AnalyzeThis? Do I need to say more about automated scanners?
3) *Trend Micro does not officially support HiJackThis. Who will provide support?

1Yeah, I'm a big HJT fan and assumed it was an open source thingie that Trend Micro had modded. I hate it when people eff around with tried and tested s/w. And Google has never failed me whenever I'm curious about exactly what a file does. Wish these commercial types would stop piggy-backing on the hard work of others. I'm sticking with 1.99

2They added support for IE7 and Vista. That's a definite plus that the old version didn't have.

3Wow. I don't even know what to think. I will be interested in what others have to say.

4You could always use the older version. But that wont be updated. As merijn said. Hes too busy. Or you could get the updated version, that will have a lot of new features. Besides, it will always stay free. So whats wrong with that? CWShredder remained free.. and so will HJT.
