i had itunes before i got my ipod touch, but when i tried to install and sync my ipod i realized that you need at least a level 9 download of itunes. I downloaded the new version and when i tried to open it it said that itunes cannot run because some of the required files are missing. when i went to repair itunes it does so completely but when i open itunes back up i continue to have to get the message about itunes cannot run because some required files are missing. any help would be great

Anyhow I am FORCED unnecessarilly to upgrade from 7.5 to 9.0.2.25 so I can get the free starbucks download of the week. (went to redeem and put code in "You must have the latest version of iTunes to redeem this code"

It installs all the way and then craps out "ipod service is not starting, retry cancel" if you click cancel it UNDOES the entire install and you have to start over only to get to this point yet again. If you click retry after 5 attempts to start the service it just fails again. If you use services.msc or process explorer, neither is able to manually start the service.

The only dependency I can see is "RCP" which I re-start and then try to start ipod service. It WILL NOT START. If I reboot it starts but then the install is interrupted by the reboot. If you leave ipod running and re-install itunes it says "an error occurred during the last installation, try again later" but of course the only way to get it to think it's "later" is to remove everything and then run it.

Hello, I'm experiencing a problem with iTunes in which I've already installed it (and it had been working fine) when one day, I tried to open it and it gave me an error saying, "iTunes could not run because some of its required files are missing." I've tried uninstalling it, but that completely crashes my computer. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Eileen

Hello! I'm having exactly the same problem as Nate, every time I turn my computer on my iTunes is completely wiped of all my songs. Fortunately I keep all my downloaded mp3. files in a separate folder in 'My Documents', these are always the same as when I left them and none of them are deleted, but just the iTunes has been wiped. This is so irritating as uploading my 10,000 song library takes forever. Obviously I can just re-upload all my songs into the Library whenever I need to sync my iPod, but this is so inconvenient! I use a XP Professional and the latest versions of iTunes, Quicktime ect. PLEASE help me as this is bugging me so so much!

Thankyou!

I turned off my computer to go on vacation for 6 days, and iTunes worked perfectly fine. After I came back, I turned on my computer and opened up iTunes, and my entire library was wiped out. I reloaded my library, and after a while, closed it. I came back later and opened up iTunes again, and my library was gone, again. It does this everytime I open and close iTunes now, and it's really annoying, because 1) I have to reloaded my massive library, and that takes forever, and 2) Because everytime I reload it, it loads every sound file on the computer into it, so then I have to delete all the extra stuff that I don't want in iTunes. Anyone know what to do???

Thanks,

Nate

do i have to pay for itunes? when i got my ipod, it came with a disk to put itunes on my computer and i never had any problems (and didn't have to pay extra). but today i tried using it and it said there was a problem with Quicktime player and to uninstall it, then reinstall it. So i did. THEN it said i had to do the same with iTunes. So i did. But I cannot get iTunes re-installed. I tried using my iTunes disk AND tried downloading from the internet. The apple site says I have to pay for a 1, 2, or 3-year access... what's with this? I just want my plain ol' iTunes back!

Thanks so much for the help! I thought I was losing it but it's just apple. They get paid enough to work these bugs out ahead of time, wouldn't you say?

Hello,

I have a few problems with iTunes. My PC recently completely crashed and I had to buy a new one. I bought a Dell, with Vista installed. My entire library is on an external drive, to protect me from precisely this kind of situation. I have successfully installed iTunes but found it very difficult to re-install my library back into iTunes (around 13,000 songs). Once I managed to upload my library, I have now found that I am unable to edit any of the information relating to songs, artists etc, as I had managed previously. I am also unable to increase the volume. when I click on these tabs the pages are un-highlighted and I cannot alter any of this info.....
Any suggestions and help appreciated...
Thanks,
Adam
