I am having problems starting my Sony Vaio computer running Windows XP.? When the computer boots up, I get a dialog box that says worm.win32.netsky. I tried to start the computer in the safe mode but I’m not sure what to do after that…how do I remove this problem?

I’m glad you were able to boot into safe mode, you’ll need to do this in order to remove this infection.? This infection is not like others where you can download a generic anti-virus program to remove the infection so we’ll use a special tool to remove the worm.win32.netsky problem!

First, download SmitfraudFix and extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your desktop. After reboot your computer and restart to safemode. You can do this by taping the F8 button on your keyboard when your computer is rebooting.

Once operating in safe mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder and click on smitfraudfix.cmd.

Choose option #2 ? Clean by typing 2 and press ?Enter? to delete infected files.

Next, a prompt will appear asking: ?Registry cleaning ? Do you want to clean the registry ??; answer ?Yes? by typing Y and press ?Enter? in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The program will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file; answer ?Yes? by typing Y and press ?Enter?.

The tool will restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn?t, please restart into Windows (without safe mode).

If a text files appears (rapport.txt) you can save it to the desktop or a personal folder to provide to a geek if you still need further assistance!
